dc.description.abstract This study aims at investigating students’ attitudes towards the effect of extensive reading on vocabulary acquisition. The study is built on the assumption that students have a positive attitude towards extensive reading and they see it as an important way to improve their vocabulary repertoire. To meet the aim of the study, a questionnaire was administered to a sample of (57) master two students at the department of English at Mohammed Seddik Ben Yahia University, Jijel. The analysis of the results has demonstrated that the majority of master two students believe that extensive reading plays an important role in developing their vocabulary. It helps them learn new vocabulary items, expand their understanding of words they know through repeated exposure to them in context, and develop an awareness of collocations and lexical phrases. Based on the results of the study, some pedagogical recommendations and suggestions for future research are suggested fr_FR
