Although phrasal verbs are regarded as a significant aspect of English grammar and vocabulary, yet teachers face difficulties in teaching them, and students have a hard time understanding them. This research then investigates the attitudes of EFL teachers at Mohammed Seddik Ben Yahia University toward the use of mnemonics in teaching phrasal verbs. This study is hence based on the hypothesis that if EFL teachers use mnemonics to teach phrasal, students will learn them more quickly and efficiently. In order to achieve the aims of the study, two main data collection tools were used: a questionnaire submitted to (30) English teachers at the department of English at Mohammed Seddik Ben Yahia University and a semi-structured interview conducted with (09) of them. The obtained results revealed that integrating mnemonic techniques would make teaching phrasal verbs easier and more effective, motivating and engaging students in the learning process. Not only do the teachers hold positive attitudes toward the use of mnemonics to teach phrasal verbs, but they also pointed out the importance of using them to teach other aspects of the language due to the overall positive effect they have on both teaching and learning. |
