Résumé:
This study attempted to explore the impact of graphic organizers on the writing skills of foreign language intermediate learners of English. The primary aim of this research was to improve the learners’ ability to organize and express their ideas more clearly and effectively in writing.
Specifically, the study investigated how graphic organizers can support the development of paragraph writing skills among intermediate learners of English at Royal School, a private institution in Jijel. Therefore, it was hypothesized that the effective use of graphic organizers would eventually improve intermediate learners’ writing performance. To test this hypothesis, a quantitative research approach was adopted. First, a quasi-experiment was conducted with 18 intermediate learners of English at Royal School in order to test the effectiveness of using graphic organizers (T-Chart and Venn diagram) in improving their compare and contrast paragraph writing skills. Second, a questionnaire was administered to the same participants to gain insights into their attitudes and perceptions towards the use of graphic organizers and their impact on their writing skills. The findings obtained from the post-test writing performance indicated a statistical significant improvement in the learners’ writing skills as compared to the results of the pre-test.
Additionally, the findings generated form the questionnaire suggested that the use of graphic organizers was beneficial for the learners in terms of planning and organizing their compare and contrast paragraphs
