EFL Students’ Perceptions towards the Usefulness of Online Language Exchange in Enhancing their Speaking Skill A Case

Abstract

V Abstract Technology is an effective tool for assisting the learning process in the digital era. Since the need for finding alternative resources for developing speaking skill outside theclassroom is growing bigger, many researchers are interested in exploring the usefulness of these digital resources in language skill development. The current study aims to explore EFL students’ perception towards the usefulness of online language exchangein enhancing their speaking skill. To meet this objective, a semi-structured interview was implemented with 10 M2 EFL students from the department of English at the University of Mohammed Seddik Ben Yahia,jijel. Thematic analysis was used as the main data analysis procedure. Based on the analysis of the results, it can be concluded that M2 students have positive perceptions towards OLE as a way of learning English. Additionally, OLE can be considered as an effective way to enhance learners’ speaking skill
