In aquatic ecosystems, metallic contamination has attracted a big attention of scientific community
and international environmental protection organizations. Because it is one of the most threatening
aspects of pollution in these environments. By its toxic effects, it may generate critical or even
dangerous situations.The aim of this study was to assess the risk of cadmium contamination in
BeniHaroun dam. For that, we sampled the species fish (Abramis brama) in three different stations
during the period March- October. The obtained e results showed high concentrations of cadmium
that exceed the international limit values (FAO; OMS; European, Chinese, and English) of
cadmium in fish used for human consumption. Human health risk assessment of Cadmium based
on the calculation of EDI and TQH showed that the consumption of bream (Abramis brama)
farmed in Beni Harounis completely safe for human health. |
