Résumé:
When learners engage in EFL, they seek to attain, more importantly, a native- like
accent. Yet, accent is the most challenging aspect of English language for learners,
and almost an unrealistic goal to fully achieve. The present study examined the most
effective factors on the acquisition of English native- like accent among third year
LMD students in Mohammed Seddik Ben Yahia University in Jijel. It also tested the
effects of the local dialect of Jijel on that particular process. To test the hypothesis of
this study, a questionnaire and recordings were used as research instruments. The
results of our study seemed to support the hypothesis that the local dialect of Jijel is
an influential factor on the process of English accent acquisition
