Résumé:
The present study aimed at investigates the use of facebook to enhance learner autonomy. It is
hypothesized that if students use facebook, they would be able to build their self direction in
setting their own learning activities, formulating goals, identifying resources, selecting
strategies, and evaluating learning outcomes. The design of the study was a triangulation of a
quantitative and qualitative method. A questionnaire is administered to 70 1st year Master
students of English at Mohammed Seddik Ben Yahia University, Jijel. Moreover, a participant
observation is conducted through a facebook page with 16 students of the same sample. The
results revealed that English foreign language learners’ autonomy can be developed when
using facebook as a tool of learning. The results obtained from this study showed that 1st year
master students are using facebook for educational purposes to support their autonomy in
learning
