dc.description.abstract The textbook is the most used classroom material. A good designed textbook would be to the benefit for both teachers and learners. The aim of this study was to analyse second year Middle School English textbook “My Book of English” and to investigate how Middle School teachers evaluate it. In this study it is hypothesised that if Middle School English teachers’ attitudes toward the textbook are positive, then the textbook is suitable and effective as a teaching and learning material. To check the validity of this hypothesis, a questionnaire was administered to 60 teachers in different middle schools of Jijel. A detailed analysis of the textbook was also conducted for more reliable result. The obtained results showed that the teachers are not fully satisfied about many aspects of the textbook. Consequently, English middle school teachers hold the belief that most parts of the textbook are not suitable and effective as teaching and learning materials and suggested that the textbook pedagogy should be revised. fr_FR
