to (7) teachers of oral expression. It aimed at identifying the teachers’ perceptions about the
students’ level in the speaking skill, their opinions and the problems they face when teaching
speaking. Also, it aimed at identifying the teachers’ perceptions toward motivational
strategies they use when teaching speaking. Moreover, a classroom observation was directed
to four groups out of seven. It aims at getting a general insight about what was happening in
the oral sessions in terms of the use of motivational strategies. The findings indicated that
teachers use some motivational strategies in class. These strategies are a good way to increase
students’ motivation, and then contribute to the development of the students’ speaking skill.

develop the students’ speaking skill.
