Résumé:
The present research was made to present the students' problems in translating the
English phrasal verbs into Arabic. It seeks to figure out the reasons behind students'
inability to provide the appropriate translation for these linguistic items. A test of two
parts was directed to 90 second year LMD students at the English department
Mohammed Saddik Ben Yahia University-Jijel, enrolled for the academic year
2019/2020 to explore their knowledge and ability to translate the English phrasal verbs
into Arabic properly. The outcomes of the analysis show the failure of the majority of
the students in translating the English phrasal verb into Arabic. This is mainly due to the
misuse of translation methods, and the use of the context which sometimes mislead
them. these factors affect the students' quality of translation and lead to wrong
interpretation
